Hydrogen in your neighbourhood?

Based on our expertise in the field of gas and gas infrastructures, we at Kiwa are also investigating the opportunities for hydrogen application in the built environment. For example, we showed that the existing gas pipeline network can be made perfectly suitable for the transport of hydrogen gas. We are also testing heating boilers that are suitable for hydrogen or for a combination of hydrogen and natural gas. The latter, with the addition of twenty percent hydrogen, already yields a CO₂ reduction of eight percent.

For residents of neighbourhoods involved in pilot projects concerning hydrogen, Kiwa regularly organises guided tours and information meetings in the Hydrogen Experience Centre in Apeldoorn. Here you will learn everything about hydrogen, how it can be used as an energy carrier or fuel and which adjustments in your home are necessary for this. Fun and interesting to do together with your neighbours!
