The CSR Performance Ladder is in effect in the Netherlands from 2010 onwards and is internationally recognized from 2015 onwards. Process Steps
How does the certification process work?
The CSR Performance Ladder is a management system that focuses on the development, implementation, and alignment of policies across 31 themes categorized under Environment, Social and Governance. These themes include topics such as discrimination, energy, and contributions to the local economy, covering the entire business operations. Formulated policies need to be aligned with the organization's stakeholders.
The CSR Performance Ladder comprises 5 levels. Levels 1 and 2 serve as initial steps to progress to level 3, which leads to a broadly achievable implementation of themes within the industry. From level 3, companies can ascend the ladder to levels 4 and 5 by specifying and distinguishing themes and broadening their alignment.

Each level on the CSR Performance Ladder comes with a certificate, allowing companies to display the certification logo. This logo, along with the mention of the achieved level, serves as evidence of adherence to the objective norm of socially responsible business practices.
