Testing by Kiwa: a guarantee for quality and reliability

If you are launching something new on the market, you naturally want to exclude any risk to quality and safety. Your (potential) customers must be able to trust your product, component or raw material and its application. In other words, they must be convinced that your product works as it should and according to local and international rules and regulations. Kiwa's independent, high-quality testing labs and services provide that confidence.

What can Kiwa do for you?

Below you will find an overview of our services in the field of testing.

Kiwa and testing

Determining characteristics and preventing disruptions

We conduct independent tests to determine characteristics and thus be able to make statements about safety, quality, performance, reliability and compliance with regulations and provisions. This can be done in a laboratory or on location. Testing also prevents disruptions to daily activities: it reveals possible errors and defects before they cause damage. For example, you need certainty about the properties of a material in your installation or production facility or about the quality of a weld between pipe sections. Or about the possible impact of your product on the environment. Kiwa provides you with that knowledge; we also make the necessary recommendations for high-quality installations, maintenance and management of company resources.

We test, measure and calibrate everything, all over the world

We provide testing, measuring and calibration services in a wide range of market segments. We have more than 100 laboratories around the world; there is always a lab near you. Our laboratories are mainly located in Europe and the Far East. We offer professional services in both non-destructive and destructive testing. We use a wide range of testing facilities, materials, capabilities and knowledge to provide our services. We use advanced methods to detect hidden defects. Our staff will interpret the results for you. So no matter what you want to have tested and for what purpose, we will choose the testing method that best suits your needs and complies with local and/or international regulations and requirements.

Frequently asked questions about testing

Why should I have my product tested or evaluated?

By having your product and/or its application independently tested or evaluated, you create confidence in its proper functioning, both for yourself as manufacturer or supplier and for the customers who will use it. But there are more reasons to have your product tested.

Testing provides evidence of quality, safety, performance and compliance

Your customer expects your product to work properly. By having it tested, you demonstrate that your product meets the requirements for quality, safety and performance and that it follows all applicable regulations and provisions.

Testing reduces risks

A product must do what it is intended to do and it must work properly for a long period of time. By having your product tested, you reduce the risk of defects, malfunctions or accidents because possible errors are noticed at an early stage, before damage can occur.

Testing prevents delays

A well-tested product is more reliable. This ensures that your business and production processes are not interrupted.

Testing supports commercialization and customer satisfaction

Thorough testing helps eliminate potential defects. This improves reliability, time to market and your commercial success.

Testing improves efficiency

By having your product tested and/or evaluated, you not only improve the efficiency of your product, but also of the entire production process and even of your entire organization. By eliminating potential disruptions early in the development phase, production runs more smoothly and product quality improves.

What is NDT?

NDT stands for non-destructive testing. This means that a product is tested without damaging it. Examples of NDT are visual tests, ultrasonic tests, radiographic tests and leak tests. NDT is the opposite of destructive testing, which can consist of bending, breaking and impact tests. A combination of these two test methods provides a wealth of information. Kiwa can perform both NDT and destructive testing for you on a wide range of products and materials.

What is calibration?

Accuracy is of great importance when taking measurements. That is why it is important to have your measuring instruments calibrated and checked regularly. This includes instruments that measure weight, volume, length, electricity, pressure and heat. During the calibration process, the readings of your meter are compared with traceable national and international measurement standards. Kiwa can calibrate all kinds of measuring instruments for you.
