Radio Equipment Directive (RED)

On 1 August 2025, the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) will change. What does this mean for your organization?
More and more products are becoming ‘smart’, from refrigerators to lamps and doorbells. These devices communicate with each other or with the internet via wireless data communication. The European RED directive applies to such devices and will soon be expanded with cybersecurity requirements. You can start preparing for this now. We test, inspect, certify and train according to RED standards, ensuring your products retain access to European markets even under the new directive.

Is the new Radio Equipment Directive (RED) applicable to your organization?

Are you a manufacturer, importer or seller of devices classified as ‘radio equipment’? This includes all equipment with a built-in transmitter or receiver that uses the radio spectrum.

You may already need to comply with the current European RED directive. Starting 1 August 2025, this directive will be expanded to include cybersecurity requirements.
