CE marking in accordance with RED and EMC directives
The CE mark guarantees the consumer that the product complies with the EU directives that apply to the product. As a Notified Body, Kiwa Creiven assists manufacturers in issuing the CE certificate in accordance with the RED and EMC Directives.
The CE marking (European Conformity) is represented by a specific graphic symbol (logo) that guarantees the consumer that the product complies with all applicable EU directives.
Created in 1993, this symbol is mandatory for many products to be marketed within the European Economic Area (EEA), which includes the countries of the European Union and the 3 EFTA countries (Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein). This applies whether they are manufactured in China or in an EU country such as Italy.
How to obtain CE marking?
In order to obtain the CE marking for a product, the manufacturer must provide all the technical documentation (type tests, risk analysis, manuals, wiring diagrams, etc.) so that a documentary analysis can be carried out and compliance with the essential requirements of the RED and EMC directives can be certified.
Specifically, the reference directives are:
- RED Directive 2014/53/EU: applicable to all electrical and electronic devices that emit and receive radio waves at frequencies below 3000 GHz. Radio equipment covers a growing range of products, from radios for broadcasting and television sets to garage door openers or residential monitoring systems.
By their nature, these devices receive and generate radio waves, so it is imperative that they meet a number of technical requirements to ensure their safe and efficient operation. - EMC Directive 2014/30/EU: applicable to electrical products from April 2016. Electrical and electronic equipment and systems can interfere with other equipment and can sometimes be affected by electromagnetic interference from other equipment. It is therefore important that they operate correctly to ensure an electromagnetically acceptable environment.
