What types of audits can be performed remotely?
Remote auditing is useful for any kind of audit where evidence is gathered via documentation review, records’ evaluation in information systems and interviews with people. Of course this requires certain arrangements for the location of the auditor and safe and reliable technology. Also, certain audits have to be partially performed on site. For such cases, the performance of the audit can take place at different times, partly remote and partly on site.
Examples of audits that can be performed fully or partially remotely:
- Management System certification, for example ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22301, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000-1. Standards including requirements for physical security (e.g. ISO/IEC 27001) or environmental matters (e.g. ISO 14001) naturally require an onsite visit.
- Product certificate inspections on selected aspects in accordance with the auditprogram. The focus of the remote audit will be on documentation reviews (procedures), registration (implementation) and interviews.
