The EN 54-2 provides:

  • local and/or remote fire alarms to organizations having authority to take care of buildings and their environment;
  • signals to initiate, in the event of a fire, the operation of other fire protection and equipment/systems.

Such a fire alarm alarm system will require control and indicating equipment (CIE) to control the alarm signal(s) and the fire alarm functions. The control and indicating equipment may be a separate unit or may be physically combined with other fire detection and fire alarm control and indicating equipment.

Only with a certificate it can be proved that the EN 54-2 Control and Indicating Equipment (CIE) is compliant to the standard. Normally a certificate will be issued after the testing has been successfully completed. A certificate for this product provides you market access for the European market.
