Kiwa announced as finalist for the Hydrogen Awards 2023
Recently Kiwa has been announced as a finalist for the Hydrogen Awards of 2023, where businesses are highlighted for their contribution to the hydrogen industry. The commissioning of our new hydrogen production plant has played a major role in the nomination.
Giulia Botta, international business manager hydrogen says: “I was very proud to read that Kiwa is one of the finalists for the Hydrogen Awards of 2023. Without a doubt our hydrogen production plant in the UK is pioneering work. It is the first hydrogen plant to produce biogas derived hydrogen from a local source and the pipeline is the first hydrogen pipeline to operate under the Gas Act 1986. But that is not all, the accompanied upgraded hydrogen lab is the first to be fed by the supply of low carbon and low-cost pipeline odorized hydrogen. I am proud of all colleagues who have made this possible. Hopefully the awards will bring us the icing on the cake.”
Hydrogen plant
In September Kiwa officially opened a brand new local hydrogen production plant in Cheltenham, UK. The plant and technology demonstration site is linked to Kiwa’s new test labs by the UK’s first low pressure hydrogen distribution pipeline, operated under the Gas Act 1986. The facility can be used to demonstrate product such as hydrogen purifiers, gas analysers and low carbon capture technologies.
The knowledge gained is already proving useful to standards developers, market regulators and those looking to convert their own facilities to use bulk hydrogen.
About the Hydrogen Awards
Each year the Hydrogen Awards are organized in order to recognize and reward those businesses around the world that are carrying out award-winning work. The Hydrogen Awards have been established as an annual measure of enterprise, innovation and excellence – in standards, implementation and thinking about the future and about bringing the use of hydrogen to all industries and sectors and to the public. While the Awards are based in the UK they have international appeal.
The awards ceremony will take place on the Warwick University campus in Coventry, UK on 23 February 2023.
