All hands on World Water Day 2020
World Water Day, held on 22 March every year, is about the importance of clean water and proper sanitation for everyone. It raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water.
A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. This year's edition, World Water Day 2020, is about water and climate change – and how the two are inextricably linked.
Clean care is safer care
Clean care is safer care. Hand hygiene is very important in these days of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. On World Water Day, we consider the importance of the availability of sufficient clean water for everyone, because you need clean water and soap to clean your hands properly. The WHO has published a step-by-step visual guidelines to handwashing, view them here.
Climate change
Climate change today leads to extreme natural and meteorological phenomena, affecting the water cycle and reducing the predictability of the availability of resources, endangering the sustainable development and biodiversity of the planet. It is therefore necessary for national and international climate policies to increasingly look to an integrated approach to combat Climate Change and for a more equitable management and distribution of water resources.
