Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
With the proliferation of electronic devices into everyday life - TVs, washing machines, electronic ignitors, traffic lights, mobile phones, ATMs, anti-theft tags, to name but a few - there is a huge potential for devices to interfere with each other. That’s where Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and certification becomes essential.
What is Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing?
Electromagnetic Compatibility, also known as EMC, is the interaction of electrical and electronic equipment with its electromagnetic environment, and with other equipment. When we test your product or system for EMC, we check whether it functions properly in its electromagnetic environment and that it does not interfere with other systems or equipment
In most markets around the globe EMC testing is necessary to gain access to a specific area of the world. The EMC testing helps you to meet the local regulatory requirements and improves your product performance at the same time.
Examples of the types of products covered by our EMC testing services:
- Information Technology Equipment
- Analogue & Digital Telecommunication Terminal Equipment
- Industrial Control Equipment
- Laboratory Equipment
- Gaming Machines
- Domestic Appliances
- Other commercial products
National and International Standards
We evaluate the requirements your electronic equipment or system must meet in order to comply with both national and international standards. At Kiwa we are accredited/notified bodies to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17065 standards for:
- RED Europe (CE)
- FCC USA
- ISED Canada
- MIC Japan & Japan: VCCI Registered
- Australia & New Zealand: ACMA Conformity Assessment Body
- UKCA

In the last decade more and more products, from doorbells to refrigerators, have become ‘smart’. Mostly via wireless data communication these products communicate with each other or over the internet. Each product placed on the European market that contains some sort of wireless connectivity or (already certified) radio component must comply with the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) (RED).Show
